PREPARING FOR A JOURNEY

The preparation before any journey is just as important as the integration afterwards. Here are the steps that I take my clients through in their preparation.
- Reflection: Create intentional space to be still and reflect on the following questions…
- What am I grieving? What life cycle, relationship, pattern, perspective is falling away?
- What am I celebrating? What am I feeling gratitude for?
- What insight or wisdom am I seeking through this journey?
- What do I want to feel in my body in receiving this wisdom? What frequency do you wish to hold in your body?
- Form your intention statement: Think of this as an elevator pitch declared to the Universe. Be clear and concise. “Through this journey, I seek [the frequency/feeling] in receiving [wisdom].
- Create a daily practice bringing the frequency you desire to hold into your body. What is a resonant memory of a time when you felt this? Set aside a space each day to sit quietly and connect to this frequency by recalling the frequency held in the memory. Is there a song that reminds you of this feeling? A scent? A texture? Bring in the sensory elements that support you in connecting to this frequency. You are creating a pathway to this frequency through this practice.
- Altar work: An altar is an energetic portal. I invite my clients to create a small altar dedicated to this journey. Bring in representation of your spirit guides and allies, ancestors, any energies that protect and help you to feel safe that you would like support from. This could be objects representing places on the Earth that you feel peaceful and supported by, photos of younger versions of yourself that you would like to call in connected to your intention, representation of the energy you are desiring to hold within your body.
Light a candle, give offerings of incense, fresh flowers or tea, and spend some time consciously connecting to these spirits and energies, asking for their support. You can do your daily practice at your altar.
- Preparing your body and mind: Begin to lighten the energy of your body through conscious consumption of food and media. I recommend that my clients begin to cleanse their bodies of meat for at least a week before their journey, focusing more on fruits, veggies, legumes and grains. I recommend abstaining from other mind-altering substances like alcohol and caffeine.
I also recommend a digital cleanse as much as is possible considering work and lifestyle. Be extra conscious of the shows and movies you’re consuming, social media, news, books, podcasts. These medicines amplify the energy within and around you, so whatever you’re holding energetically in your system will be affected.
